Robert is believed to be the son of Robert and Elizabeth (Fall) Allison who lived in the Thirsk area of Yorkshire, England. Robert Sr. supposedly died Sept. 5, 1820.

Robert Jr. brought his family to Oriskany, New York from Leeds, England in about 1841. The family is found in the Yorkshire 1841 census in Leeds. My g grandfather, George Allison, was the only child born in the US in 1842. Three of his sisters supposedly preceded him to America. He was a house surgeon in the Leeds infirmary (equivalent of a pharmacist). His fondest dream seemed to be to start a pharmacy in Oriskany but it was never to come true. There were relatives that lived in Utica (possibly the sisters of Robert) who had encouraged the move to the area from England. Birthplace listed as Crosby Grange, Thirsk, Leeds, England. Leeds is in West Riding. Found Crosby Grange and visited the location in 2003. It is located near Thirsk, Yorkshire, England, a beautiful rural area.

I believe two of his sisters who lived in the Oriskany area were Elizabeth (Allison) Bowes, wife of Emanuel Bowes and Ann Bielby, wife of Thomas Bielby.

Robert and his wife, Sarah (Briggs) Allison had six children:
John Fall Allison, 1827-1897;
Elizabeth (Allison) West, 1829 - 1912;
William Robert Allison, 1831 - 1909;
Robert Allison Jr., 1831-1831;
Caroline E. "Carrie" (Allison) Williams, 1833 - 1925;
George Robert Allison, 1842 - 1924.

Robert is my gg grandfather.
