William Snodgrass, born to Jonathan Snodgrass and Rachel Stuthard on January 8th, 1849.
He was a drummer boy in the Civil War for a short one hundred days. While in a battle, he was hit by a mini-ball, that was shot from a canon, that shatered one of his legs. His leg healed, but he always had a limp. As he got older, his foot grew because of the accident in the battle. He would put straw with water in his shoe, as it would expand the shoe
He married Eliza Ellen Jett, daughter of Hugh Jett and Mary Frances Milton, on December 17th, 1871 in Lewis county, Missouri. Eliza died while in child birth in the early 1880's.
William lived most of his life with either his first son, Henry Franklin, or with his second son, Charles McClain and his family.
