Harry A. Alber, 79, of rural Doniphan died Monday at a Grand Island hospital. Services are pending at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Nebraska Chapter of the American Lung Association.
Mr. Alber was born Sept. 29, 1903, near Mt. Clare, Neb., the son of Albert and Louise Jahnke (sic). He received his education at Lawrence and grew up south of Blue Hill. He married Rhoda Orman on March 21, 1934, at Hayes Center. They farmed near Lawrence. In 1936 they moved to a farm southeast of Doniphan. In 1972 they retired. They maintained their farm home. Mr. Alber was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses.
Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Shirley Alber of Doniphan and Mrs. Tom (Ellen) Schoenstein of Grand Island; three grandsons, all of Grand Island; a great-granddaughter; four brothers, Albert and Ralph, both of Stirling, Ill., Clarence of Independence, Mo., and Wilford of Blue Hill, and six sisters, Katherine Alber of Omaha, Mrs. Burton (Frieda) Moseley of Holbrook, Mrs. Victor (Elsie) Schulze of Perman, Idaho, Mrs. Martha O'Donnell of Salinas, Calif., Mrs. Rose Bott of Hastings and Mrs. Carson (Dorothy) Jones of Augusta, Ga. He was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin.
