Andrew "Andy" Bushman, Jr., age 94, a resident of Manitowoc, died Saturday morning, Jan. 28, 2012, at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc.

He was born on Aug. 24, 1917, in Newton, son of the late Andrew and Clara (Bonde) Bushman, Sr. Andy was a graduate of St. Joseph Parochial Grade School in Alverno.

Prior to World War II, Andy was employed with Harley Davidson in Milwaukee. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving as a medic in the Pacific and Atlantic Theatre from 1941 until 1946. On Oct. 24, 1951, he married the former Mabel C. Wordell at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The couple resided in Sheboygan from 1951 to 1961, when they moved to Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on March 13, 1994.

Andy retired in August of 1979 after 29 years of employment with the Kohler Company. Andy was a member of the following organizations: Manitowoc Senior Center, Manitowoc County Historical Society, VFW Otto Oas Post #659, American Legion Post #88, Catholic Knights Society, Sheboygan Accordion Club, Chilton Steam Engine Club and St. Francis of Assisi.

Survivors include one brother and three sisters-in-law: Robert and Rose Bushman, Newton, Louella Bushman, Manitowoc; Rosemary Bushman, Sheboygan; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Mildred Bogenschutz, Manitowoc; Lucille Strauss, Manitowoc; and Roland LeCompte, Salem, Ore. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers: Odilo, Raymond and Joseph Bushman; and six sisters: Marcella Holschbach, Margaret Schill, Julitta Wagner, Rosalia Wagner Martzahl, Mary LeCompte and Aurelia Kohlbeck.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Richard Klingeisen, with burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by V.F.W. Otto Oas Post #659.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc, from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, until 10:45 a.m.
