The George N. ELLIS family monument is placed in a corner of the family plot. There are small stones with initials placed along the one side of the fence nearest the driveway. Julianne ELLIS with the initials J. E. is the closest to the monument. Next to her is her husband with the initials G. N. E. The family plot has four corner stones (plot markers) with slightly pointed tops. The inscriptions for the family members with full names are carved on the large monument.
Julianne's side is the most weathered with her name now unreadable though the dates are somewhat readable.

S. M. E. for Sarah M. Ellis.
S. E. For "Aunt Callie" Sarah Ellis.

I became aware of this cemetery when I found a family history of the Mickle family that stated that this cemetery had a stout fence around it. The fence is now falling apart.

United Brethren-The Bethel Hollow United Brethren church was built in 1871 at a cost of six hundred dollars. The congregation was organized in 1848 by Rev. John Sidman [Sitman]. It started with about twenty members. The present membership is about twelve, the number having been reduced by deaths and removals [moved to Johnstown because of the steel mills, many to Dale Boro]. Henry Taylor was the first class-leader in the neighborhood. [The church was torn down. There appear to be records for the church which may be with the Methodist archives. United Brethren joined the Evangelical in 1946 in Johnstown to become EUB & then became the United in the United Methodist Church.][The community of Bethel located in Bethel Hollow (the headwaters of Dunnings Creek) also had a school. The community was located 2 & 1/2 miles NW of New Paris].
