SALT LAKE CITY—Services for Willard L. Eccles, 76, of Ogden, Utah were held Thursday, March 21 at Lindquist and Sons Mortuary in Ogden.

He died March 18 at his home in Ogden.

He was vice chairman of the board at First Security Corp. and was a director and member of the executive committee of First Security Corp. and supervisor of the Corporate Real Estate Division. He was formerly senior vice president and director of First Security Bank of Utah and chairman of the board of First Security Bank in Rock Springs.

He started in Ogden with the First Security organization in 1932. He organized the public relations department for First Security in 1952. In 1952-53 he attended and graduated from the first school of financial public relations and later became the director of the school. In 1957 he was the president of the Utah Bankers’ Association. He was also a director of the Pacific Coast School of Banking at the University of Washington. He at one time was the youngest Eagle Scout in the nation and, in 1982, received the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award.

He was born in Logan, Utah Feb. 12, 1909. He was the son of David and Ellen Stoddard Eccles. He attended school in Logan and at Utah State University and graduated from Babson College in Massachusetts. He married Ruth Pierpont of Provo, Utah Aug. 20, 1930.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Ogden; daughters, Mrs. Stephen G. (Susan) Dankers of Ogden, and Mrs. William H. (Barbara) Coit of Portland, Ore.; his sister, Emma Eccles Jones of Piedmont, Calif. and five grandchildren.
