He was the son of John Ed (1901-1983) and Mattie Leah Bennett (1901-1950) Arvin.

His siblings: Dorothy Mae Cooper (1920-1993); William Edward 'Billie' Arvin (1922-1922); Opal Arvin (1924/25-1944); Ilene Davis (1930-1989); John Lee Arvin (1933-1993) and Carolyn Deanna Coonrod.

Ronnie had Down's syndrome and died of diphtheria.
