Gertrude M. Bachmann, age 88, of 1605 Madison St., Manitowoc, died on Wednesday morning, Dec. 24, 2008, at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc.
She was born on Dec. 31, 1919, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Pokorsky) Derus. Gertrude was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, class of 1938. On Dec. 1, 1945, she married Arthur H. Bachmann at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on April 30, 1997.
Gertrude was employed with the Manitowoc County Aging Resource Center, retiring in 1990. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary 706 and the VFW Auxiliary 659, both of Manitowoc. Gertrude was a former member of the Rosary and Altar Society of St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc.

She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter: Mary Jo Bachmann; and two brothers and a sister-in-law: Alex and Helen Derus, and Erwin Derus.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 30,
2008, at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Richard Klingeisen, with entombment at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc, from 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, until the time of service at 11 a.m. The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
