Ethel L. Kupczyk, age 97, of Ashland, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Monday, December 4th, 2023 at Ashland Health & Rehabilitation in Ashland, with her loving family by her side.

Ethel was born on March 29, 1926 in Ashland, the daughter of Willard and Jeretta (Wallace) Wilson.

Ethel graduated from Ashland High School in 1944. Upon graduation, Ethel worked for the United States War Department in California for the remainder of WWII.

Ethel was united in marriage to Donald Kupczyk on April 3, 1948 in Ashland Wisconsin. Ethel and Don were the owners and operators of the Golden Glow Café in Ashland from 1963 to 1985. They also owned Don's Produce and the Lakeside Motel for a number of years. Ethel was a stay-at-home mom for many years and then was the Office Manager at the Golden Glow Café until her retirement. Ethel was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Ashland.

Survivors include her 4 sons: Dale (Jan), Jeff (Maureen), and Larry (Sue), all of Ashland; and Bob (Shelby), of Kaukauna, Wisconsin; ten grandchildren: Heidi (Nick) Sovacool, Allan (Jenny) Kupczyk, Chad (Jenn) Kupczyk, Brian (Eren) Kupczyk, Holli (Edgar) Martinez, Dan (Jen) Kupczyk, Larissa (Kevin) Clinard, Meredith (Ben) Strieff, Michael (Megan) Kupczyk and Jennifer (Rick) Brinker along with 19 great-grandchildren. Ethel is also survived by her sister Joyce Danz of Barron, WI. and many nieces and nephews.

Ethel was preceded in death by her husband Don in 2012, parents Willard and Jeretta, brothers Ken and Sam Wilson and sisters Alice Bayliss, Audry Christofferson, Jacquelyn Baatz and Sandra Wilson.

The family would like to thank the staff of Ashland Health Services for their care and compassion for Ethel over the past seven years.

Ethel will be remembered as a quiet, kind and loving mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by her 4 sons and their families.

A Spring Memorial Service is planned.

Memorials can be made to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Mountain Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ashland and Mellen, WI.
