Corina Alvarez (nee Rodriguez), 53, of Lomira, formerly of Arlington, Texas, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2010, at her home surrounded by her family following a long courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on August 4, 1956, in Carrizo Springs, Texas, the daughter of Andres and Manuela (Maldonado) Rodriguez, and on May 10, 1980, she was united in marriage to Arturo Alvarez at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fond du Lac.

Corina was a member of Grace Christian Church in Fond du Lac and a member of The Baptist Church of Christ the Road in Arlington, Texas. She was the district manager of Goodwill Industries of South Western Texas, where she had a close working relationship with the employees and received several plaques for manager awards.

Those Corina leaves behind to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Arturo; three children, Raquel (Valentin) Gonzalez of Lomira, Enrique (Antonia) Alvarez and Vanessa Alvarez both of Arlington, Texas; her mother, Manuela Rodriguez of Lomira; three brothers, Andres (Chris) Rodriguez, Jr. of Appleton, Hugo (Brenda) Rodriguez and Jerry Rodriguez both of Lomira; two sisters, Diana (Rigo) Urbina of Fond du Lac and Sonia (Daniel) Oechsner of Lomira; four grandchildren, Enrique, Jr., Anays, Estrella and Aaron; a grandson-to-be-born, Valentin III, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Corina was preceded in death by her father.

Funeral services for Corina were held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at Grace Christian Church, 1596 Fourth Street in Fond du Lac. Pastor Paul Pfeffer and Pastor Juan Munoz officiated and cremation followed the service. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Lomira.

Relatives and friends called at the church on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services.
