Son of Moses Gurley & Mary (Barnhill) Allen. In 1940 he was living in Laurinburg, Scotland Co NC, with is wife Mattie Dane (Tyler) Allen and their children, Lonnie Howard, Hal B. (Buck), Lola Irene and David Allen. He left to go to the store and never returned. He was declared dead seven years later.

In April 1958, Mrs Helen B Allen of 313 South Cherry St, Richmond VA, applied for a military headstone which was delivered to Riverview Cemetery, Richmond VA from GA Marble Co, Tate GA.
