ALLEN, Helen Burton, 84, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 17, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Allen; brother, Robert Burton; and two grandchildren, Aaron and Kerry.
She is survived by three children, Patrick Allen and wife, Betty, Sheryl Pedigo, and James Allen and wife, Donna; former daughter-in-law, Terry Allen; sister, Virginia Douglas; nine grandchildren, Stacie, Jerry Jr., Clair, Amy, Sherry, Jamie, Beth, Anna and Luci; and nine great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Allen was a devout lifelong member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and retired from the Hewlett Packard Company Corporation. A devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, all of her family will miss her Sunday, Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners, and her very dry wit. She raised three children on her own from age 29 and taught them how to love and respect one another.
The family will receive friends Wednesday (today) from 3 to 8 p.m. at Bliley's - Central, 3801 Augusta Ave. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, with interment to follow in Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 236 S. Laurel St., Richmond, Va. 23219.
