Abel "Baby" Díaz, age 72, of El Paso, Texas, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2013 surrounded by his family.
Born on July 22, 1941, Abel was the son of the late Pablo E. Díaz and Bertha (Enríquez) Díaz.
Abel attended Jefferson High School before moving on to start his family and begin work as an auto parts salesman and manager for over 40 years until forced to retire due to illness. However, this did give him the opportunity to enjoy more of his pastimes, eating everything he wanted but wasn't supposed to, watching John Wayne westerns, WWF wrestling and most of all enjoying his Dallas Cowboys-- all of which he could never seem to get enough of.
Abel loved telling stories of the numerous battles throughout his life and how "he was never one to back down" and proved this to be true as he remained a fighter to the very end, always reminding us that "family comes first" along the way. We love you and will miss you dad!
Abel is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Olga C. Díaz, daughters, Betty Kilcrease and Olga Díaz Deslongchamps, sons, Abel Díaz, Paul Henry Díaz, Joe Díaz and Jerry Díaz, daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine Díaz, Gaby Orona, Kyle Kilcrease and Alfredo Muela, granddaughters, Nicolette, Madison and Isabella Diaz, Kelsey and Amanda Kilcrease, Alyda Muela and Vivian Orona, grandsons, Dustin, Johnny and Joshua Deslongchamps, Cameron, Jake, Sean and Aiden Díaz, great-grandson, Dexter González, sisters, Maria Elena Fonseca, Cecilia Luna and Sylvia Muro as well as numerous loved aunts, uncles and cousins.
Abel was preceded in death by his brother, Gilbert Díaz, sisters, Betty Chávez and Lily Saucedo and his son, Davy Díaz.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2013 with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home-East. Funeral Service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, Novembver 9, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home-East. Intement will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
