He was born on Sept. 16, 1941 in Grays, Ky.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Palmer Quillen of London; two children, Polly Quillen and Gene G. Quillen Jr., both of Keavy, Ky.; two step daughters, Janie Forbes and Donna Tudor, both of Georgetown; a sister, Eva Palmer of Orlando, Fla.; a brother, Kenneth Nelson of Hyden, Ky.; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and he was uncle to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Virgil Nelson Sr. and Inez Ridgle Nelson;
daughter, Lisa C. Quillen Lindsey;
son, Steven D. Quillen;
and siblings,

He was a retired machinist and was of the Christian faith.
The family will receive friends at Bowling Funeral Home from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Nov. 15.
