Buckingham rites Friday
Laura Agnes Buckingham, 82, died at 10:30 p.m. Monday at the Nelson Nursing Home. She had been a patient at the nursing home for a number of years.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Raymond Funeral Home. The Rev. Martin Gauby will offficiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation will be 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Fairfield Public Library.
Born May 13, 1903, in Des Moines County, she was the daughter of Phillip and Abigail Flege Fritz.
She was married to Joe J. Buckingham (sic) Feb. 10, 1920. She spent most of her life in Jefferson County and was a member of the Methodist Church. Her husband died July 15, 1966.
Survivors include ten daughters and two sons: Lois Shook, Sun City West, Ariz.; Aletha Hay, Burlington; Ruth Hoyt, South Bend, Ind.; Helen Neff, East Lansing, Mich.; Carol Nelson, Fairfield; Della Taylor, Hudson; Edith Gauby, Boise, Idaho; Bernice Ogden, Batavia; Christine Boyenga, Mercede, Calif.; Doris Epperson, Aliance, Nebr.; Gen, Fairfield; and Frank, Springfield, Mo.
Also 32 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren survive.
In addition to her husband Mrs. Buckingham was preceded in death by one brother and a sister.
