Elva was the daughter of George and Susan Peoples Chamblin from Virginia and the twin of brother, Elza. Her father died when Elva was about 2 years old, and her mother took her 3 children, Mary, Elza, and Elva, and went to live with her parents, James and Mary Bowen Peoples from Ohio and Wales. In 1891, when Elva was about 14, she gained a stepfather when widowed Susan married Charles Chamblin, a farmer also from Virginia. On Christmas Day in 1902 in Wood County, Elva married John William Arnold from Nebraska who was an oil field driller. They moved to Robinson, Illinois following their marriage but came back to Lucas County, Ohio by 1930. They had no children. Following his death in 1936 from an unexpected heart attack, Elva took in lodgers. She had an eighth grade education.

I am writing to suggest a correction to the bio of Elva Chamblin Arnold...the correction is to the name of her father...her father was George William Chamblin not Charles E. Chamblin...George died in 1879, 2 years after Elva and Elza were born in 1877...and their mother, Susan Peoples did not marry Charles Chamblin until 1891...
