Joe DeCurtins, age 84, died at Golden Living Care Center in Madison on March 29, 2010. He was born at Ramona, SD on February 12, 1926 to John and Martha (Fazendin) DeCurtins. He married Marge Haroldson at Ramona on June 21, 1948. She preceded him in death in 1979. He is survived by three daughters - Pam (Rodney) Asmussen of Arlington, SD, Marcia (Doug) Reidel of Ramona and Brenda (Mike) Jewell of Sioux Falls. Two sons - Kevin (Nancy) of Madison and Phillip (Lora) of Ramona. 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Two sisters - Deloris Lembcke of Madison and Lorretta Carter of Chandler AZ. He was also preceded in death by his parents and three brothers and one sister. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at St William's Catholic Church in Ramona with Rev Michael Schneider officiating. Burial with military honors at St Ann Cemetery, Badus Township. He grew up in Ramona graduating from Ramona High School in 1944. He served in the US Army during WWII. He worked as at John Morrell's for 17 years. He also worked as a janitor at the Ramona School, Gehl Manufacturing, and the Lake County Highway Department. He was a member of Ramona American Legion. He played golf, baseball and was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins. There will be a parish scripture service at 7:00 PM on Tuesday at the Weiland Funeral Chapel, which is in charge of the arrangements.
