Husband of (1) Harriet Jefferies (2) Martha A. Lawrence.

Father of Jesse W., Zachary Taylor, Melvina E., with (1) Harriet. Father of Mary, William Isaac, Joseph Albert, Katherine A., Claborn D. and Alabama with (2) Martha.

1858-June 1, Lazarus Q. Griffin acquired a federal land grant, #28757, containing a little over 40 acres, in Pickens Co, AL.

1860-June 1, Lazarus Q. Griffin acquired a federal land patent #14775, containing 317.86 acres in DeSoto Parish, LA. He most likely migrated to this area in the late 1850's from AL.

Martha and Lazarus Quin are buried in the family plot, near three of their infant children, in the Prude Cemetery, Hunter, DeSoto Parish, LA. This cemetery is located between Mansfield and Logansport, LA and cannot be seen from Hwy 84. It is a small cemetery in a clearing in the woods. Over all, it was fairly well maintained. From junction Hwy 171 south and 84 west in Mansfield, travel west on Hwy 84, about 8 miles, turn right on Blount Mill Road. About 1/2 block, turn right again on Prude Cemetery Road (dirt road behind a house). When we visited the cemetery, 1/11/2005, their markers had, long ago, broken away from their base and were laying flat on the ground. Grass was growing over and partially covering both of the markers.
His marker inscribed "Gone Home" Quin Griffin with his birth and death date. Her marker inscribed, Martha A. Wife of L.Q. Griffin, her birth/death date and "There is rest in Heaven".
