David Kent Carpenter, 35, Cairo, Ga., formerly of Elwood, died Wednesday at his home. Born Nov. 25, 1960 in Elwood, he was the son of Ralph Carpenter and Louise Hussong Mottweiler. He was a graduate of Elwood High School and a member of the First Baptist Church in Elwood. Survivors include his father, Ralph Carpenter of Cairo, Ga.; his mother and stepfather, Louise and Paul Mottweiler of Warsaw; maternal grandmother, Ruth Lewis of Elwood; a sister, Marianne Tipton of Elwood; three brothers, Jeff Carpenter and Eric Carpenter, both of Elwood and Bobby Carpenter of Warner Robins, Ga. He was preceded in death by a brother, Mark Carpenter. Funeral services will be at 11 am. Saturday at Copher & Fester Funeral Home with Pastor Dwight Stinnett officiating. Burial will be in the Elwood City Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
