He married (1) CATHARINE BROWN December 08, 1844 in Knox County, Ohio. She was born May 01, 1825, and died March 02, 1847.
JAMES JACKSON WAGES married MATILDA WELSCH DRAKE, daughter of SAMUEL DRAKE & CATHARINE SHARP of Morris Township, Knox County, Ohio on June 06, 1848 in Fredericktown, Knox County, Ohio.
Mr. Wages is a blacksmith by occupation, and has been engaged in that business since 1849, and is a good practical mechanic.

James Jackson Wages was a Mason, member and treasurer of Thrall Lodge Number 170, Fredericktown, Ohio. Thrall Lodge was chartered on 18 October, 1849 and the first officers listed were: Chaney Hill, T.V. Parke, J. Wages, Treasurer.

The remains of James Wages were brought here from Ashland for interment last Monday. His son, C. V. Wages, and Mrs. Kate Crall, his daughter, accompanied the remains. Mr. Wm. Wages, living north of town, was a brother of the deceased. He was for many years a resident of this place and operated a blacksmith shop in the old Tuttle building on S. Main Street. He was about 75 years of age and had been blind for a number of years.
