She was born on May 21, 1925 in South Hampton, NY to Thomas and Addie Littlefield Rose.
Elaine spent many years in Mt. Pleasant and Charleston working for AT&T at the call center, St. Francis and Roper Hospitals as an LPN. She served with her husband in the Coast Guard Auxiliary for many years.
In her free time, she strung pearls for Croghan's Jewel Box and Litaker's Jewelry. Her hobbies were flying with her husband in their private aircraft as well as boating Charleston harbor and the intracoastal waterway.
Elaine is survived by her three sons, Thomas Rose Scibek of Sag Harbor, NY; Chester Charles Scibek (JoAnn) of Battle Ground, WA; Richard John Scibek of Columbia, SC; and step-son, George Newton Johnson, of Samsula, FL; two nieces, Ms. Helen Butler Bodiford, of Charlotte, NC and Florence Butler Welch of Conyers, GA; two nephews, Thomas Butler of Moncks Corner, SC, and George David Butler, II, of South Lake, TX.
She was predeceased by her husband, Michael C. Stevens and her sister, Florence Bell Rose Butler. Elaine is also survived by six wonderful grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held at Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens, November 27, 2013 at 11:00 AM.
