DANIELSVILLE – Amy Gladell Sexton, 95, died Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at the Brown Memorial Convalescent Center in Royston.

Born on March 8, 1913, in Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Sanford M. and Era Fitts Carey. She was a member of the Evangelical Methodist Church, the Happy Travelers Club, and the Young at Heart. Mrs. Sexton was preceded in death by her husband, Dewitt Sexton; sisters, Allie Dudley, Nita Ginn and Hester Sartain; brothers, Buford, Billy and Fayette Carey.

Survivors include a brother, Ford Carey, Danielsville; sisters, Ethel Sexton, Roberta Dove and Stuart Kirk, all of Danielsville, and Annie Mae Smith, Hull; a host of nieces and nephews; and served as second mother for a number of children in the Danielsville community.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 20, at 2 p.m., at Evangelical Methodist Church in Danielsville with the Revs. Lance Snipes, Billy Frank Carey and Tim Peek officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
