Woolson, James B., Co H&A 7th S.C. Inf. Age 22 yrs. Enlisted 4/15/1861. Where: Aiken, Edgefield District, SC. C.M.R.: Apr. to Dec. 1861 present July 1862, Absent wounded in battle 6/27/1862. Sent to Danville hospital. Sent to General Hospital No. 7, Richmond, Va. Admitted 8/23/1862. Remarks: Situation of wound right foot. Date of operation: 8/22/1862. Amputation below knee by Dr. Ward. Remarks: In case of Private J. B. Woosley(sic) Co. A. 7th S.C. who was transferred to this hospital from Danville Depot Aug. 22 and was operated upon for amputation of right leg on account of extensive destruction of tissues of ankle joint, it is remarked that the stump attacked by erosive or ulceration after union was fully established and new exhibits such destruction of tissue as to excite fear that another amputation above knee may become necessary. Died: Dec. 2, 1862 from Gunshot Wound Right Leg. Taken lower 3rd Leg Amputation.
