BAILEY, MARY VERNON Mary 88, of La Mesa went to be with the Lord, Wednesday May
3. She was born in Hugo, Oklahoma, November 11, 1911 and came to San Diego in
1925 at the age of 14. Her father was Minister of the First Church of the
Nazarene, where she has been a member and volunteer until her death. She enjoyed
family, friends, and traveling, and considered her calling in later years a
daily prayer ministry. A founding member of "Las Damas". She volunteered over
3500 hours to Alvarado Hospital until her stroke in 1996. Survivors include her
sons, Elton L. "Beetle" Bailey, ret. S.D. Police, now of Utah and W. Dale Bailey
of La Mesa. Daughters-in-law Mary and Cana, five grandchildren, 13 great
grandchildren. A Memorial service is planned Monday 11 a.m. First Church of the
Nazarene 3901 Lomaland Dr., Pt. Loma. Donations to the church suggested.
