A memorial service for M. K. "Bill" Christian, 70, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Christian died Friday, October 23, 1998, at a local hospital.
He was born October 10, 1928 to James and Irene Christian in Orland, where he was raised and went to school.
He graduated from Orland High School in 1948.
Christian enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served 7 1/2 years.
On February 6, 1956, he married Shirley Hendricks in Idaho. They moved to Sacramento where Christian worked for Greyhound and Trailways Bus Lines.
He then went to work for Consolidated Freight and in 1962 transferred to Chico with the company. He drove for numerous trucking companies and in 1973 went to work at Mid Valley Tractor where he worked many years.
Christian enjoyed hunting, fishing, was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cribbage.
He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Club and and volunteered at the North Valley Blood Center.
Additionally, he was a member and past chaplain of Northern California and Hooker Oak Good Sams clubs, a long time member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Chico; two sons, Jim of Chico and Brian of Salem, OR; one brother, Bob and one sister, Donna Vincze, both of Orland; and six grandchildren.
Inurnment will be private.
