September 18, 1942 - December 9, 2013 Donald Robert Louis Amberson was born September 18, 1942 in Rockglen, SK. He was the youngest of 11 children. Don's mother passed away when he was 4 years old and he was mainly raised by his sister Clare and Albert Young at Stony Beach, SK. Don raced Pony Chuckwagons for many years and made many friends and won many trophies, a few buckles and even a set of harness or two. He worked in the elevator trade as a mechanic, salesman and inspector. He retired in 2007 and found he had a lot of extra time on his hands so he joined the RM of Aberdeen as a pest control officer and weed inspector. He also became quite the gourmet chef - always trying out new recipes. His motto was "Live for Today, Yesterday is gone, and Tomorrow will take care of itself". Family was very special to him and he always looked forward to their visits. Don loved going to auction sales, fishing - both summer and winter, and being able to be on the farm with his animals and his beloved Border Collie, Charlie. Don had the "gift of the gab" - he could talk to anyone - he loved to tell stories. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Don is survived by Diane, his sons Rod (Jo) Amberson and Jason Amberson. Also by Diane's daughter Carrie (Graydon) Lomas and his 10 grandchildren: Billy, Tommy, Raney, Johnny, Ruthy, Jimmy, Teddy, Elsy, Ty, and Gracie. He is survived by his sisters Marg (Harv) Doan, and Laverne Bell, and by his brother Jack (Janet) Amberson and sisters-in-law Fern Amberson and Agnes Amberson and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sons' mother, Hazel Amberson. Many thanks to the doctors and nurses of floor 6 of the Royal University Hospital for their excellent care during his short stay there. Special thanks go out to our neighbor, Walter Klassen for always being there to help with the farm. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Park Funeral Chapel (311 Third Avenue North, Saskatoon). Committal in Aberdeen Cemetery to follow. To send online condolences, visit www.parkfuneral.ca "Obituaries & Tributes". Arrangements entrusted to Greg Lalach, Park Funeral Chapel, 306.244.2103.
