Carl Fakes, one of the old settlers of the town of Green Grove, Clark County, Wis., died at the St. Joseph Hospital at Chippewa Falls, August 29, 1925, from a paralytic stroke received six weeks ago. Funeral services were held the following Tuesday afternoon at the Green Grove Lutheran Church, Rev. Goetsch officiating.

The deceased was born in Germany July 28, 1866, and came to the U. S. in 1869 with his mother and settled at Howard's Grove, Wis. In 1881 they moved to Clark County, Wis. in the town of Green Grove, where, by hard work and privations, they built a fine farm and where he lived until his death.

His wife, ten children, four sons and six daughters, and mother, mourn his departure to the undiscovered country. Also four sisters survive: Mrs. Emma Lapp, Dorchester, Wis., Mrs. Ida Molle, South Green Grove, and Mrs. Anna Trapp and Mrs. Minnie Haak, both of Sanborn, Minn.

Those attending the funeral from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Robert Haak and two sons and Mrs. Anna Trapp of Sanborn, Minn., Also the following cousins: Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Stecker, Sheboygan, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Steinberg, Kiel, Wis., Mr. Herman Steinberg, Kiel, Wis., Mr. Carl Mauer, Kiel, Wis. and Mr. Gust Schuricht, Glenbulah, Wis., Mrs. Fakes' sister, Mrs. Emma Pagel of Chilton, Wis., and brother, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kind of Chilton, Mr. John Pagel, Chilton, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Bennedum of Appleton, Wis.
