Faber Weissinger Kearse, Bamberg, Dies; Rites Today
Mr Kearse was born in the Kearse community, son of Mrs Mildred Bamberg and the late Joseph Josiah Kearse. He attended Carlisle, The Citadel and graduated from Wofford and the University of South Carolina law school. Following graduation he engaged in legal work in Jacksonville, later practicing in Bamberg with his brother, Senator James Carlisle Kearse. This partnership was dissolved a few years ago and since then he has practiced alone. He served in the House several terms and was speaker pro tem 1931-32.
He served in the first world war and was commander of the Bamberg County post of the American Legion at the time of his death. He was a Mason, trustee of Trinity Methodist Church and member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. Mr Kearse had served as city and county attorney, was attorney for Edisto Building and Loan Association, and past president of the local Lions club. He also held farming interests.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs Marie Dantzler Kearse; two sons, Faber Weissinger Kearse Jr, and Olin Dantzler Kearse; his mother, three brothers, Senator Kearse, Bamberg; George B Kearse, Ehrhardt, and B V Kearse, Columbia; three sisters, Mrs Virginia Kearse Jones, Bamberg, Mrs George D Sanders, Fairfax, and Mrs Ira M Williams, Bayard, Fla.

His son, Olin Dantzler Kearse, (1927-2004) studied with Jamie Wyeth, son of Andrew Wyeth, in Vinyl Haven Maine and Philadelphia. Olin was a professional ballet dancer, dancing with the Met, ABT, Royal Danish Ballet. In the early 60s he lost his sight. He regained vision and opened up a school. Àt the time of his retirement in 1998, he had at least 1 dancer in every company in the free world.
