Bernard Vance Kearse, 72, of 2576 Gervais Street, a retired salesman and farmer, died at the Columbia Hospital at 11 o'clock last night following a long period of declining health.

Born in Bamberg on February 23, 1883, Mr Kearse was a son of the late Mildred Bamberg Kearse and Joseph J Kearse. He had lived in Columbia since 1938.

Mr Kearse was a member of Shandon Methodist Church.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs Leda Ritter Kearse of Columbia; two sons, B V Kearse Jr of Charlotte, NC, and Douglas W Kearse of Columbia; one sister, Mrs George D Sanders of Fairfax; two brothers, Sen J Carl Kearse of Bamberg and George B Kearse of Ehrhardt; four grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Bernard Vance Kease, 72 year old retired salesman and farmer who died Monday night will be conducted at 5 o'clock this afternoon from Dunbar Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
