Carolina Sommerville Watson formerly of Boyne City and most recently residing with her son Ward (Sandy) Sommerville of Alanson, MI, died December 13, 2013 at home.

Carolina was born in Plainfield, New Jersey on June 26, 1927 to Pasquale and Virginia Delonardo.

In 1945, she married Ward J. Sommerville in Asbury Park, NJ and together they relocated to Northern Michigan. On December 16, 1989, Ward preceded Carolina in death. On December 26, 1992 she married a longtime friend Edward Watson in Boyne City, MI. Edward preceded Carolina in death on August 3, 2013.

Carolina was an active member of the Boyne City VFW Auxiliary and where could frequently find her working in the VFW's kitchen. She was also a faithful member of the Boyne City Baptist Church.

Carolina's greatest love was her family. She was a great mother and was always there willing to help when her children needed her. She was a proud and loving grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother and as the years progressed and she was not able to get around as well, always had great concern for what was going on in their lives.

Her family was always warmly welcomed in her home regardless of the time of the year, or what else was going on. She had a great sense of humor and liked to joke and kid around, but could lovingly take it as well as she gave it. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.

Carolina is survived by her sons, Ward (Sandy) and William (Petra) Sommerville; daughter Jennie (Steve) Gilliam; 7 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ward Sommerville and Edward Watson and by a daughter, Frances.

A funeral service celebrating Carolina's life will be held on Tuesday at 3:00pm at Stone Funeral Home, Pastor David Behling will officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-3pm. Interment will take place in the spring at the Little Traverse Township Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Straits.
