Ida Mattes, age 83, of Collins, died Sunday, February 2, 1997, at Holy Family
Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc, from a lingering illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 1997, at St.
Peter Lutheran Church, Collins. Rev. Arnold Ruddat will officiate with burial
in the parish cemetery.
She was born July 7, 1913, in Collins, daughter of the late Ernest and Amelia
Zutz Valleskey. She married John W. Mattes November 20, 1937, in Collins. She
was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Collins, and a Collins resident all
her life.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Eugene Behnke, Reedsville;
one son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Judy Mattes, Hilbert; eight grandchildren,
Julie (Mike) Webster, Brenda (Kelly) Ott, Diana (Dean) Schmitt, Bruce (Jenene)
Behnke, Dean Behnke, Rick (Stacey) Mattes, Sheri (Adam) Ditter, Scott Behnke; four
great-grandchildren, Ashley and Karley Schmitt, Kelli Jo and Jerry Ott; one sister-
in-law, Ovella Kleist, Collins; one brother-in-law, Roland Habermann, Valders; one
special cousin, William Schmidt, Collins; other relatives and friends. Ida was
preceded in death by her husband John on September 8, 1980, her parents, one great-
grandson, Derek Schmitt, two sisters, Elnora Dobbs and Verna Habermann.
Friends and relatives may call at the church from 4 p.m. on Wednesday, until the
time of service.
The Wieting Funeral Home, Reedsville, assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
