Bernice Alexander Olsen Roach Bylund

Early Life: Bernice was born March 1, 1917, in Panguitch, Utah, to George and Charlotta "Lottie" Frith Alexander. Bernice spent the first five years of her life living in Panguitch, then moved with her family, by horse and wagon, to Spanish Fork, Utah, where she spent the rest of her life. She was particularly fond of memorizing poems during her early studies, and could often recite a poem word-for-word that she learned some 80 years before, in her later years. She graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1935.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life, Bernice held various positions, including the Fifth Ward Relief Society president and member of the stake Relief Society board. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She loved the Lord with all her heart and firmly believed in the power of prayer. She was always trying to teach her children to live by the Golden Rule. Bernice loved to spend time with her family more than anything else. She enjoyed gardening and cooking, and one of her all-time favorite recipes was her delicious rhubarb pie. Her loved ones all have fond memories of summer vacations throughout the state, especially at Fish Lake. Bernice Alexander Olsen Roach Bylund passed away December 19, 2013, surrounded by the people she loves. She was 96.
Survived By: One daughter and four sons: Kette Ann Olsen (David) Jex, Mark Dee Roach, Eric Lowell (Jolene) Bylund, Kevin Gordon Bylund, and Duane Alexander (Carrie) Bylund; 23 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren (one on the way), and three great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded In Death By: Her parents; three husbands: Dallas Olsen, Mark D. Roach, and Gordon Lowell Bylund; two sons: Kent Olsen and Blaine Olsen; one daughter-in-law, Susan B. Roach; two brothers: LaGerald and Harrold; five sisters: Ina, Kate, LaRue, Clara, and Georgia.
