Ruth Rutherford Stevens, born in 1920, passed away at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2007, from health complications.
She was the daughter of James Andrew Rutherford and Annie Mae Morgan Rutherford, of Chandler.
Surviving are her daughter, Judith Ann Altman, of North Fort Myers, Fla.; and son, James A. Stevens, of Bradenton, Fla.; grandsons, Shayne Stevens and Brandon Stevens, of Rhode Island, and Britney Martin Gibson, of Asheville; great-grandson, Mitchell Stevens.
As a wife, mother and grandmother, we celebrate a life of giving and love that she not only gave to her family and friends, but to everyone she met. She was a pillar of strength in her church and community. She held offices in her church, Biltmore Baptist, and Biltmore Lions Club. She was one of the oldest members of Biltmore Baptist Church. She loved her church and the church family. We want to thank all of the friends and neighbors who have been so kind with their prayers and support.
She was the strength of our family and gave all of us a deep sense of direction.
A private memorial will be held by her family.
