Also, there's the question of William W. and Harry A. -- Since William W.'s age is undetermined, except that he's an adult when he dies in 1888, and Harry A.'s age makes him born after John dies, most likely makes him a grandchild of John and Margaret (Craig) Algeo, but who's?
Also, this John has a sibling Charles C. but I don't have any birth or death info for him. There is a C. C. Algeo in the directory that drops off the list after 1876 (a sash lock manufacturer called C.C. ALGEO & Co. or ALGEO C.C. and Co.). I can only assume at this point that he died that year.
Based upon the addresses in the City Directory and the listed ages in the burial records, John B. lives with his (presumed) mother Margaret C. in 1881. There are a number of City Directories I've collected that list these Algeos over and over through the years. Some drop off the list and others are added to it over time. This gives clues to not just when they died, but how they were related to each other. Said another way, I noticed not just the addresses, but there were male (most likely heads of households) listed, but after they die, the previously unknown wife is then added to the list as widow of...
It's going to take some time and lots of research of other records to verify the links, but for you genealogists out there, directories are very helpful in pointing you in the right direction. And you need to look at all of them in sequence because you start to notice patterns, and one year's directory may list an initial and the next year may list the full name. If they were still doing the same job, such as engraver, or plasterer, etc, then you can deduce that that W. C. is most likely the same person listed as William (or Wm) in another year directory.
