Funeral services for Alma Schrader, age 94, of Lenox, who died Wednesday, June 6, 2001 were held Saturday, June 9, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. at the Ritchie Funeral Home in Lenox with Reverent Frizzell and Reverent Tim Maxa officiating.
Interment of ashes were held at the North Fairview Cemetery in Lenox. Memorials can be directed to the Lenox Ambulance Service. Services were conducted by the Ritchie Funeral Home of Lenox.
Alma Bissell Schrader was born in Mutual, Oklahoma on November 12, 1906, the daughter of Alva Bissell and Pearl Morgan Bissell. Alma lived in Oklahoma from birth until 1915 when the family moved to Cass County, Iowa. She attended the Rural School of Cass County.
On June 9, 1924 Alma was united in marriage to George Schrader in Corning, Iowa. To this union two sons were born, Don and Larry.
Alma cooked at the Lenox Sale Barn for 20 years and was also employed at several other area restaurants. When Alma was not working you could find her cooking at her home and working in her garden. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Mercer Center.
Alma is survived by one son, Larry and wife Bonny Schrader of Lenox, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Bissell and Theda Bissell; one nephew, Kenneth and wife Mary Bissell, who was raised in the Bissell home; three sisters, Florence James of Corning, Iowa, Ida McKee of Massena, Iowa and Cleta Paul of Corning, Iowa; eight grandchildren and
fifteen great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Preceding Alma in death are her parents, Alva and Pearl Bissell; one son, Don Schrader; husband George Schrader; two great grandchildren, Clinton and Dallas Schrader; two sisters, Esther Castee! and Edna Scott; and five brothers, Claude Bissell, Ansel Bissell, Huber Bissell, Ivan Bissell and Raymond Bissell.
