Rocky was a pure breed Doberman. He was owned by a policeman friend of my dads. Rocky was set to become a police dog and taken several training classes but was adopted by our family at a year old. I was afraid of him when I first saw him, but he was a gentle giant and quickly became a member of the family. He was very smart protective and loyal..Rocky lived with us at a small farm in north Canton Georgia for many years, he loved roaming the open land around the house and riding in the back of my father's truck. Late one night Rocky fought off a bob cat that had wandered into our yard! As a child Rocky would walk me to catch the school bus everyday, once he even got on the bus with me. He made good friends with a neighbors dog a small Chihuahua, they liked to play tag together in our yard. I remember Rocky loved to walk along with me bike riding and saved me from a would be abductor by scaring them away, later he also ran off a mad billy goat that chased my friend and me on our bikes!! I always felt safe when Rocky was near, and if I was sad he'd lay his head on my shoulder, we loved him dearly..

The one love in Rocky's life was a beautiful sweet stray collie mix breed dog we named "Pepper". She soon became part of the family and she and Rocky became parents to 7 beautiful puppies in 1981. Out of the puppies most of them were adopted at a local grocery store , I remembered "Ringo" named after the Beatles drummer with the white markings around his neck (pictured in front row) was adopted by a nice biker man. We did get to keep "Jr." who most favored Rocky but he was hit by a car at 6 months old trying to follow my school bus one morning. "Kung Fu" was adopted by relatives, and years later we welcomed Dobie their grandson into our family..

Sadly Pepper disappeared shortly after she had her puppies, we thought she may have found a new home with a girl on our school bus. Rocky was killed by a unknown motorist in the winter of 86. Just weeks before his death on a cold winter day we heard a faint cry coming from the basement of our house, Rocky had dug a hole under the house and became stuck in the basement wall, lucky we were able to rescue him by pulling him out on a ladder and tossing him on to a soft mattress. He was rewarded with hot dogs and got to stay inside for the day! We will never forget him..
