Roman P. Koenig 93, formerly of Osman, died peacefully Tuesday morning, December 31, 2013 at Field of Dreams Assisted Living Kiel with his family at his side. He was born February 10, 1920 in Meeme, 1 of 13 children born to late John & Angeline (Binversie) Koenig. Roman attended St. Fidelis Catholic School. On May 26, 1945 he was united in marriage to Theresa Federer at Holy Name Catholic Church. Together the couple proudly raised their family on their Ro-Te-Ko dairy farm in the Town of Meeme for 22 years before continuing their life in Osman. Roman then worked at the Cleveland Co-op as hardware manager for 17 years until his retirement. Theresa preceded him in death on July 17, 2013. He was a former member of St. Isidore, Osman, St. Wendel, Cleveland, and Holy Trinity, School Hill. Roman was currently a member of St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. Roman was a member of the Cleveland Senior Citizens and the Farm Bureau. Roman had a passion for singing, dancing and playing guitar. He enjoyed sharing his love of music with his family. He also enjoyed gardening and playing cards. Survivors include his loving children; Ann (Bill) Hoban, Jim (Dianne) Koenig, John (Sandy) Koenig, Mike (Vicki) Koenig, Bill (Linda) Koenig, Ruth (Brad) Kramer, Jane (Tom) Lensmire, Marilyn (Mark) Stenske. He is further survived by his grandchildren; Barb (Duane) Dehne, Joe (Leah) Hoban, Cathy (David) Herr, Betsy (Chris) Crotty, David (Laura) Hoban, Brian (Wendy) Koenig, Michelle (Brett) Hansmann, Cheryl (Mike) Schuh, Tami (Tony) Salm, Becky (Jeff) Roloff, Tracy (Todd) Ferron, CJ (Kristy) Koenig, Nicholas Koenig, Kelli (Scott) Widder, Terri (Chad) Lilyquist, Brenda (Bill) Thiel, Michelle (Dave) Amos, Jill Jubeck, Terry (Jenni) Koenig, Mandy (Barry) Kraemer, Stacy (Ken) Vogel, Angie Hansen (Fiance Dan Molkentine), Tony (Heather) Kramer, Shannon (Jake) Westman, Peter Kramer (Fiance Alissa Smith), Clarissa Kramer, Matthew, Luke, Joanna, Sam & Zach Lensmire, Gabrielle, Haleigh, Roman, Averi & Halden Lulloff, Jenni Stenske (Fiance Adam Brownlea), Chris Stenske (Fiance Abbey Gaffney), Sara (Jamie) Jahns, 48 great grandchildren with one on the way. Roman is also survived by his brother; Thomas (Marie) Koenig, School Hill, his sisters; Laura Wagner, New Holstein, Margaret (Donald) Bonde, Newton, Betty Bonde, New Holstein, & LaVerne (Roman) Karls, Green Bay. brothers-in-law; Francis Scharenbroch, Jerome Neumeyer, sisters-in-law; Alice Koenig, Dolores Eichstaedt. Roman is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Angeline Koenig, his wife Theresa, his in-laws, Joseph & Anna Federer, daughter-in-law; Carol Koenig, granddaughter; Krystle Koenig, great grandson; Collin Widder, sisters; Arlene (Alfred) Schad, Ruth Scharenbroch, Anna Mae (Donald) Stoelb, Virginia Neumeyer, brothers; Victor ( Margaret), Robert (Evelyn), Sylvester (Alice) (Rose) Koenig, his in-laws; Carmelita (Tony) Leibham, Walter Federer, Henry Eichstaedt, Roman Bonde, Ashley Wagner.

The funeral Mass for Roman will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 413 Fremont St., Kiel. Burial at St. Fidelis Cemetery, Town of Meeme. Family and friends may call at the Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home (815 6th St. Kiel) on Friday from 4:00 -7:00 pm and on Saturday at the funeral home from 9:00 am until 10:30 am when we will have brief family rites before we process to church. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his name. Roman's family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of St. Nicholas Hospice and a very special thank you to all the residents and staff at Field of Dreams for the continued love and support they were given.
