Born May 29, 1914, in Dorcas, she was the daughter of the late Hubert C. Mongold and Myrtle (Riggleman) Mongold.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Byron E. "Bud" Shobe, Oct. 31, 1984; one brother, John Adam Mongold; and one sister, Sue (Mongold) Schmuck.
Mrs. Shobe owned and operated Evelyn's Beauty Shop in Petersburg for over 30 years.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Petersburg, the church council, the church altar guild and was past president of the Bible Study Circle of WELCA.
The Church Women United of Petersburg awarded her "Valiant Woman 2002."
She was active with the Petersburg Interfaith Pantry and Lenten luncheons.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was active with the Golden Lanes Bowling Leagues in Petersburg for several years.
She is survived by two daughters, Wanda J. Kesner of Charleston, and Carol J. Harriman of Aurora, Ill.; two sisters, Garnet Burley of Van Wert, Ohio, and Wilma Rodgers of Petersburg; one brother, William R. Mongold of Petersburg; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services Friday, Sept. 26, at the Grace Lutheran Church, with Pastor Larry M. Cantu officiating.
Interment was in the South Branch Memorial Gardens, Petersburg.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg.
