Age 28 at the time of his enlistment in Company G of the 4th PA Regiment. He was from Lewisburg where he was employed as a Blacksmith. He also served as a
2nd Lieutenant in Company D of the 52nd PA Regiment.He was also noted to have served as a Landsman on the receiving ship North Carolina from June 22, 1864. He was discharged from the Navy in 1867. From May 5, 1887 to November 12, 1890, he was a resident of the soldier's home in Leavenworth Kansas. He was reported to have suffered from dizziness since discharge from a sun stroke. According to the 1900 Census, he was listed as a boarder with Samuel and Mary Parks of Cuming Township, Dodge County, Nebraska. He was noted to be an invalid.
