Zelpha ‘Arlene’ Highfill, 89, of Lebanon, died Dec. 26 at Timberwood Court in Albany.
She was born in Toronto, Kansas, to Roy and Maude Souders.
In the 1930s her family moved to California.
She graduated from North Hollywood High School in 1943. During WWII she worked in the shipyards in Los Angeles.
She married Gene Highfill on Dec. 18, 1945. They were married for 59 years until Gene died on May 18, 2004.
They moved to Oregon in 1949 and eventually settled in Lebanon where they raised their daughter Cheryl and son Mark.
She owned and operated the Lebanon Greeter Service for 34 years before retiring in 1992.
She is survived by her daughter Cheryl Highfill, of Salem; son Mark and wife Martha Highfill, of Eugene; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Private family services will be held.
