Mrs. Edmund Steffen, 61 of Paullina, died Sept. 30 at the community hospital at Orange City of a long illness. Services were held at 2 PM Oct. 3 in the St. John's Lutheran Church at Germantown. The Rev. Charles Kramer officiated. Burial was in the church Cemetery under the direction of Gaudian funeral home of Paullina. Pallbearers were Rick Schoof, Douglas Schoof, Robert Axdahl, James Menser, Gary Menser, and James Paulsen. Mrs. Walter Richter was organist, accompanying the congregation singing two hymns. Mrs. Steffen, the former Ruth Fiddelke, was born June 15, 1915 and O'Brien County. She was educated in the Paullina area and on Oct. 14, 1934 was married to Edmund Steffen. The couple farmed in the Paullina area for many years. Survivors include the widower; two daughters, Mrs. Henry Eunice Schoof of Primghar in Mrs. Brad Diane Menser of Sutherland; one son, David of Paullina; two Brothers, Herbert of Spencer and Marvin of Calumet; four sisters, Mrs. Esther Meyer of Mallard, Mrs. Otto Lillie Bode of Primghar, Mrs. Herman Sarah Axdahl of Sioux Rapids and Mrs. Lawrence Elizabeth Richter of Lime Springs; and six grandchildren.
