Funeral services were held at Gedstad Hardy Funeral Home Thursday for Alvin Ackerson, 66, who died January 12 at Union Hospital. Interment was in the Lutheran cemetery, New Ulm. He was born August 30, 1909 at Elbow Lake, a son of Nathaniel and Alvina Kiesling Ackerson. He moved with his family to New Ulm in 1916. He served in the US Navy from 1929 to 1935. He was married at New Ulm April 17, 1937 to Frances Juhnke, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Mrs Robert (Sharon) Rubey, Sleepy Eye; two grandchildren and a twin brother, Ted, New Ulm. He was employed by Hauenstein Brewery 35 years, retiring in 1969. He was a member of the New Ulm Volunteer Fire Company, Engine Co No 3 from March 1935 to January 1959
