OBITUARY :
W.H. SANDLAS, EX-TRUSTEE OF COLLEGE, DIES

WILLIAM HENRY SANDLAS, 71, chief estimator for the Consolidated Engineering Co., Inc. of Baltimore, who last year ended 16 years of service as a member of the Gettysburg College Board of Trustees, died Wednesday in Baltimore a short time after having been involved in a minor traffic accident.

Mr. Sandlas, who was a Gettysburg College alumnus in the class of 1914, resided in Roland Park. He collapsed and died after he was involved in a minor accident at Mount Vernon Place in Baltimore, according to Baltimore police.

Accident investigation officers said they were exchanging information with the driver of the other car about 3:30 p.m. when Mr. Sandlas fell to the sidewalk. He was pronounced dead at Maryland General Hospital at 3:50 o'clock.

OTHER DRIVER CHARGED
Police charged the other driver, James W. Robosson, 27, E. Riverside Ave., Baltimore, with drunken and reckless driving and with making an improper left turn. The officers said Sandlas was driving on the west side of the Washington monument when the other car collided with his. Damage was slight.

Mr. Sandlas was a native of Baltimore. After graduation from the college here, he was graduated by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1917 and from Harvard University the same year from each.

He was a member of the Baltimore Alumni Club, Professional Engineering Association, the Engineers' Club of Baltimore, Society of American Military Engineers, the Baltimore Kiwanis and the American Legion. He was a World War I veteran and had served in the Meuse Argonne.

SERVICES SATURDAY
He married the former Josephine E. Adams in Baltimore in 1918. His wife and two daughters, Mrs. Josephine S. Rausch and Mrs. Ellen S. Langdon, survive.

Mr. Sandlas was a registered professional engineer and was a past national vice-president of Kappa Delta Rho.

Funeral services will be held at the William J. Tickner and Sons Funeral Home at North and Pennsylvania Aves. in Baltimore on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be made at Boonsboro Cemetery in Boonsboro, Md. The family has asked that flowers be omitted.

Will was not buried at Boonsboro, he was cremated at Loudon Park Crematorium and his ashes were scattered on Blue Ridge drive by his grandson and son-in-law.
