Born in Gunnarskog, Varmlands Lan, Sweden Cajsa came to America about 1875 and met her husband Nils Erik Nilsson in Iowa. They married in McPherson County, Kansas on 14 August 1877 and settled onto a farm in the parish of New Gottland, McPherson County, Kansas. It was while they lived in New Gottland that the family changed their given name to Forslin. She bore 6 children while living on their farm. About 1899 they lost the farm to a $20 debt to the Hartford Insurance Company and were forced to move to Minnesota. About 1909 they resettled in the small Alberta, Canada community of New Dayton
