Valentine Flynn was the son of William Flynn & Ann Stinson. His Father William and Grandfather Michael Flynn relocated from Fauquier County Virginia and were among the original pioneers of Clarke County Kentucky. Valentine was named for his great grandfather Valentine Flynn . When he grew into manhood he chose to continue the family trandition of agriculture becoming a farmer in Nicholas County Kentucky. On March 2nd 1830 in Shelby, Kentucky he married Susan Sacrey. To them ten children were born in the following order John R, Alfred , William W, Marion F, George W , Reuben H , Johanna C, Mary J, Rowena E , Thomas D . Mr. Flynn moved to Indiana and located in Clinton County before moving on to Boone County. Shortly after their arrival in Indiana his beloved wife passed away, Valentine remarried on August 9th 1866 to Eva Stafford. To them three more children were born Hannah. Elsie Amanda and Sarah Jane. Both He and wife were members of the Missionary Baptist Church. He voted with the democrats until 1856 when he became one of the original Republicans. Mr. Flynn was a typical American pioneer and straight forward with his dealings . He was loyal to the Union and had four sons in the Civil War. Alfred in the 148 Regt. Indiana Vol Infantry, William Wallace in Comp D 72 Regt. Ind. Vol Infantry, George W Comp D 72 reg Ind Vol be longing to Wilderd's Brigade and Reuben H in Company H 15 regt. Indian a Vol Infantry.
