Pneumonia Claims Rapids Man Early This Morning
Frank Pleuss, 83, a resident of Manitowoc county, nearly all his life, died of pneumonia at 5 o'clock this morning at his home in the Town of Manitowoc Rapids. He was ill only a few days. His wife died two months ago.
The body will be removed from the Wattawa, Urbanek and Schlei funeral home to the residence late this afternoon. Funeral services will be held at the home Thursday at 1:30 p.m. and at St. John's Lutheran church at Newton at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Edward Kionka will officiate and burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Pleuss was born Dec. 29, 1851 at Cedarburg. When he was a small child his parents moved to Manitowoc county, settling on a farm at Newton. In 1882 he married Sophie Schnell and they took up their residence on the farm in Rapids where both lived, for the remainder of their lives. Mr. Pleuss was a member of the school board of Rapids district No. 1 for six years.
The survivors are one daughter, Mrs. William Schramm, Rapids.; two sons, John on the homestead and Albert, Rapids; three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Roepke, Birnamwood, Mrs. Carl Lippert, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Meta Meisner, Manitowoc, one stepbrother, John Ludwig, Newton, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
