From the Noble County Register Obituary:
James Washington Betts was born at Batesville, March 12, 1849, and died at his home at that place, December 14, 1914, aged 66 years, 9 months and 2 days. He was one of a family of nine children of which four preceded him some years ago.
He was united in marriage to Mrs. Elizabeth Dailey [nee Shuman], July 12, 1872. To this union were born three sons and four daughters: Andrew of Caldwell; Mrs. Myrl [Eva] Carr, of Cumberland; Mrs. Charles [Estella] Gallagher, of near Spencer's Station; Mrs. Oscar [Atha May] Douglass, Mrs. Menter [Emma] Long, and Henry Betts of Batesville, and Roy of the home. Mrs. Frank Hunt [nee Mary Dailey] of near Spencer's Station is a step-daughter.
He leaves to mourn his departure his companion, eight children, four brothers and many friends.
The funeral was held at Wesley's Chapel Thursday, at 10 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Knight and Undertaker Eberly of Quaker City.
