William (Wilhelm) Doffing was born 19 December 1864 to Mathias and Anna Catarina Thielan Doffing in Chruchten Kries Bitburg, Germany. He came to the United States and lived in Exira, Audubon County, Iowa. There he met and married Josephine Failenschmid on 21 July 1903. Later they moved to Missouri, Corpus Christi, Texas, and then on to Hidalgo, County, Texas. Josephine and William had Nine children: Julius William, Evaline Catherine, Joseph Edward, Anthony Louis, Anna Maria, Josephine Guadalupe, Melania Agatha, George Bernard, and Juliann Marie.
