Serrel Fountain, 83, of Route 1, Knox City (Colony Community) died at 12:55 Tuesday afternoon (July 02, 1985) in Kirksville Osteopathic Hospital.
Born May 25, 1902, in Knox County, he was the son of William and Sedona Cox Fountain. On May 21, 1921, he married Florence D Beard who preceded him in death on Sept 16, 1961. On May 15 1966, at Kirksville he married Thelma Hager who survives. Also surviving are one son Walter Fountain of Eldon; four daughters, Margaret Anderson of Lake, Florida, Mrs. Ray (Ezylene) Snell of Canton, Mrs. Cliff (Patty) Black of Tonganoxie, Kansas and Mrs. Don (Jo Ann) Arment of Holt. one step-son, Robert Hager of Turnwater, Washington; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Serrel Fountain Jr; one daughter Betty Werner; three brothers; one granddaughter, Glenda Sue Werner and two great-grandsons, Troy Allen Fountain and Ben Whiston.
Mr. Fountain was a life-long resident of Knox County where he was engaged in farming in the Colony community. He was a member of the Colony Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at one o'clock Thursday afternoon (July 04, 1985) in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel, Edina. The Rev. Ernest Deatrick of Wyaconda, will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Colony Cemetery.
