Laura Elsie Kechley,youngest daughter of Michael Kechley and wife, Barbara (Kornman) Kechely was born near Blue Springs, Gage County, Nebraska. Here she grew to womanhood and on October 11, 1897 she was united in holy matrimony to Nathan H. Mudge and lived in Elm township, Gage County, Nebraska for several years. To this union, one son was born. The family moved to Beatrice in 1925 where Laura resided until her sudden death. She was a faithful member and worker of the Eastern Star and Royal Neighbors. Her life is an example worthy to follow, always extending a helping hand to help others whenever needed. Although she was not in good health her sudden death was a severe shock to all.

She left to morn her passing, her husband, Nathan H., her only grandchild, Nathan and wife, her daughter in law Viola Mudge of Boston, her only sister Mrs. Caroline Yother of Blue Springs, and one nephew, Harold Kechley of Beatrice, Nebraska, four nieces, Mrs. Fred Sebring of Blue Springs, Nebraska, Mrs. Lorene Graham of Gloton, California, Mrs. Thomas H. Damrow of Beatrice, Nebraska and Mrs. Arthur Morris of Blue Springs, Nebraska. Funeral services were held September 28, 1949 from the Centenary Methodist Church with Rev. Alva Clark officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemeter, Beatrice, Nebraska. Casket bearers were B. W. Steward, Charles Sonderegger, E. J. Lewis, Clyde Burge, G. S. Copeland and Ray Macy.
